Avalanche on Scotch Bonnet

Avalanche on Scotch Bonnet

This avalanche was triggered on Saturday (2/20).  It is 3-6 feet deep on a north facing slope at 10,200' on Scotch Bonnet outside Cooke City.  No one was caught.  The debris was hard wind slabs and the weak layer was surface hoar, seen as a stripe in the snowpit wall. Photo: GNFAC
