Natural avalanche in Airplane Bowl south of Sacajawaea Peak. This slide occured on 3/28 after 10" of dense snow fell with moderate to strong westerly winds. It looks like a smaller slide broke above the cliff band (likely a wind slab triggered by a cornice), which then broke into deeper layers below the cliffs. The lower crown is proabably 4-6 feet deep. A natural avalanche in the northern Bridger Range occurred south of Sacajawea Peak in Airplane Bowl (east-facing).  It snowed 10" last night and this slide looks to be a few feet deep and at least 500 feet wide. This photo was taken at 12:30 this afternoon (Monday, 3/28). Photo: R. Sheridan
